Suspended Ceilings - They Are Getting Popular There are many different types of ceilings out there to choose from when getting a new ceiling fitted,

but there is one that can offer many different benefits and extras that will help you in future maintenance of your ceiling.

tiles

The ceiling type that I am talking about is suspended ceilings, read on to find out some of the benefits to these types of ceilings.

Suspended ceilings are false ceilings which are supported by suspended metal grids which are held on from the current existing ceiling joints. Usually, but not always, suspended ceilings are held made demountable so that there is access to the ceiling void above. This is usually created so that occasional maintenance work can be carried out above the ceiling so that it is hidden from view, this is probably one of the main reasons why buildings such as shopping precincts, offices and schools use suspended ceilings, so that maintenance can be carried out without being in the full public eye.

There are many different additions that can be added on to suspended ceilings to offer benefits to you and whoever else will see them. Suspended ceilings for example can have lighting added to them and stylish tiles to make them look good as well as brightening up the rooms. There are many different types of lighting that you can get installed, there are even lights that help with heating. The main thing that determines what extras you can have on the suspended ceilings is the tiles that are used in the suspended ceilings. This is because most of the extras will come built in with the tiles, for example for extra insulation that doesn’t take up much room in the ceiling void you can get tiles which come built in with extra insulation.

When thinking about buying suspended ceilings you may want to consider the fire safety aspect to the ceilings, if you feel that it is going to be a issue then you will probably want to get suspended ceilings tiles that are made from mineral fibres or from fire rated wood panels that will keep your suspended ceilings fire proof for a certain period of time if a fire was to break out. These tiles will also bring you up to scratch with any health and safety regulations that you may need to abide by. ceiling-installation One of the major reasons why people opt for suspended ceilings is because you can then hide existing pipe work, air ducts or anything else in general that may be being used that you do not wish customers or friends to see as it will make your existing ceilings look tacky. Another reason why many people decide to install suspended ceilings is because you can then run your whole ventilation system in the ceiling void above, allowing for you to fill the room or building with fresh air and not have any air ducts in full plain view. Suspended ceilings are definitely growing in popularity, especially in the commercial industry but always remember that these ceilings can be added to most buildings and will help you in presentation and with anything that may wish to conceal. It will also give you the chances to carry out maintenance when and where necessary. Ceiling Supplies - And Where To Buy Ceiling

Suspended Ceilings - What Systems Are There Suspended ceilings are being installed everywhere at the moment and there are many different types of suspended ceilings systems that can be installed into your premises. ceiling-lights One of the biggest suspended ceilings companies are called AMF Ceilings, this company have got their own created suspended ceilings systems which they are constantly building on.

In the last few years suspended ceilings have become a lot more popular and it seems that a lot of people are using them to install ventilation shafts or so that they can easily carry out maintenance on the ceiling. Below are a few of the suspended ceilings systems that they create. Concealed Demountable Concealed Non-Demountable

Exposed Free Span Before we go over what some of these systems do, let’s make sure that you know what is meant by suspended ceilings. Suspended ceilings are made up of a metal grid that is suspended from the existing ceiling so that it stays in place and then tiles are put into the grid to make up the ceiling. This means that there is a space above the metal grid so that you can carry out maintenance or add additions to help your building.

Right now onto what types of suspended ceilings there are, firstly we shall talk about the concealed and demountable. This system is put into place and allows for panels to be demounted allowing full access to the ceiling void above, this is a good choice if you are looking to put a ventilation system in or anything like that, and this system also gives your suspended ceilings a smooth monolithic appearance.

This is created because all of the metal suspension components will be concealed therefore giving a smooth, nice looking ceiling. This system can also be created in a non demountable way, these types of suspended ceiling do not allow you room so that you can carry out easy maintenance. ceiling-installation The next system is the exposed suspended ceilings system, this system uses a popular exposed suspension grid which adds to the design, and square edged panels are then slotted into the grid. These suspended ceilings are popular because they allow for a lot of creativity to be used with the designs as you can put different tiles or additions to tiles into the grid easily and as the grid is exposed you can add onto the design with this as well. Suspended ceilings with this type of system added also allow for easy maintenance and also another really good reason why these are installed quite a lot is because they are quick and easy to install. Another of the suspended ceilings systems are used a lot is the Free Span corridor system. This is a system that is mainly installed into corridors as it is this easiest and best design to be placed in places such as a corridor. Suspended ceilings of this type have ceiling planks supported on their short edges by the perimeter trim. These basically go across the ceilings giving a smooth, monolithic look. These types of ceiling can be made mountable or demountable and can offer very easy maintenance access if you wish to have access. These suspended ceilings are easy to install hence why a lot of people use them. Above you have seen a few of the systems that AMF offer I would definitely recommend using their systems as they are so professional and their systems are great. How to Install Drop Ceilings

A few grids, some ceiling panels, a few wires and some elbow grease is all it takes to install drop ceilings. If you still have questions, then read on… ceiling-lights

How to Install Drop Ceilings I feel every person has dormant creativity residing in him/her and sometimes it only takes a simple incident to bring out that spark!

I begin this article with the above line because I feel that home improvements and decorations that are done by the people who inhabit the house reveal their identity. So go ahead and learn the process of installing drop ceilings.

A drop ceiling What is it? This ceiling is composed of a metal grid and ceiling panels that are placed in that grid. They are often composed of translucent materials that cause an overall glow from the ceiling. The sizes of the drop ceiling panels vary.

The most common size that is available is 2 feet by 4 feet. Light fixtures can also be covered using drop ceilings. Today there are drop-ceiling tiles available too. These tiles come in many textures and colors, ensuring that you have a ceiling treatment that matches your d cor. Benefits of Drop Ceilings Drop ceilings are a good choice of ceiling treatment for many reasons; some of them have been listed below. * Efficient and Cost-Effective Drop ceilings can be used in a basement or laundry room because they are more practical. The reason for this is that drop ceilings do not consist of much construction and the materials that are used are economical. * Provide Sound Control These ceilings score above concrete ceilings because of the property of being able to soak up residual noise.

Drop ceilings have this feature because they are made up of fibers, which are terrific acoustical absorbers. * Provide Cover-up For Faults Despite the fact that drop ceilings are used to conceal unsightly pipes and electrical wiring, they do allow easy access to the equipment too. To reach the equipment all you need to do is lift the panel provided. * Provide Leveling A drop ceiling can be used to correct any leveling problems. This is possible as the metal grids can easily be adjusted to different heights as they are installed. How to Install Drop Ceilings

Here are the steps that will help you install a drop ceiling: * First of all it is important to decide on the style of the drop ceiling that you would like to use. Once you have done that decide on how many drop ceiling panels you will require. * Now center the panels within the room ensuring that the perimeter panels are of equal size as possible. * After the above process, it is important that you figure out how to install the drop ceiling. Remember that the minimum ceiling height that is required is 7 feet 6 inches. Also note that the drop ceiling needs to be installed at least 5 inches below any lights and three inches below any plumbing. * Once the above process is over, install your drop ceiling perpendicular to the joints; to do this you can follow the manufactures instructions. The common process that is followed for installation usually requires eyehooks to the joists and a wire that is used to hang if from the ceiling. While installing the ceiling, ensure that you are using the recommended type of hardware and wire. * Use tin snips to cut long pieces of wire and then make sure that all intersections in the grid are carefully secured. You can use a level to ensure that the drop ceiling is not being installed at an angle. ceiling-lights * Place the panels into place after the installation of the grid. To fit the space, cut the perimeter panels into place (note that the actual panels are a little larger then the hole in the grid). Tips * All you need to do to ensure that the panels are equal in size and the number of panels you have calculated are right, draw a diagram of your ceiling on graph paper. While doing do remember to use a box to equal one square foot. When that is complete, draw the panel system onto your diagram. * You would be required to keep a saw handy to cut other panels apart from soft, absorbent and drywall panels. * If you are unable to procure the proper equipment or cannot cut it yourself, you could take the panels to the nearest home improvement store. Most of them will cut it for free. I would like to end by informing you that there are times when installing a drop ceiling becomes difficult because of awkward angels and the use of ladders. It is advisable to call a professional if you are uncomfortable with the task. Suspended Ceilings - You Need Them More Then You Think Want to get rid of those nasty oblique pipes and wires that cause a real eye sore? To freshen up your office,

class room, or any room to be exact one should consider investing in suspended ceilings.

Firstly you may ask, what exactly is a suspended ceiling? Suspended ceilings are an extension to the existing ceiling made of metal grids suspended from ceiling by wires. Once the grids are made tile panels are dropped into the grid, which hide the pipes and wires. The use of suspended ceilings is widely used in offices and schools where it is necessary to hide air ducts and pipes in order to give off a professional look. ceilings-1 In today’s society where it is paramount in the way your business looks it is very important to have that professional edge in order to look the part and make your employees feel they are a part of a well established business. This is why I feel suspended ceilings are the answer. The fundamental reason suspended ceilings were designed is to cover and hide outstanding pipes, ducts that would usually stick out like a sore thumb. By hiding these ugly building works, the room appears much more presentable and give off a much more professional look than it would if the pipes still appeared.

Another main reason suspended ceilings are used is for their sound absorption. Depending on the material used and the way they are made means that there is better sound absorption. If you require suspended ceilings for better sound absorption then denser tiles are needed. This will limit the vibrations caused because it will be harder for sound to travel through the tile. Furthermore with the gap between the suspended ceiling and the original ceiling can be lined with sound proofing material which would furthermore make the room soundproof. This is a very good way of keep sound insulated as it means other offices and classrooms will not be disturbed. The idea of further insulation on the suspended ceiling means that heat insulation can be done. This is very green idea as it will save money on your heating bills because of the insulation.

Another benefactor of suspended ceilings is that they hide uneven ceilings. By covering them up with a level ceiling the slant is gone, instantly improving the look of the room. By adjusting the grid when being installed means that any angle can be made, even if a slanted ceiling is needed. Suspended ceilings also have the power of being highly versatile. Once installed they can be constantly altered. Panels can be removed and replaced with different materials and colours, in order to achieve the exact look you want. Even if you decide you want a change in the design you can easily carry it out. Furthermore, you can create fluorescent light panels.

By doing this you can install lights anywhere in the room quickly and cheaply. From this it is possible to see that suspended ceilings are more than just a subtle way of hiding obscure pipes and wires etc. They can be used to change a rooms entire appearance, improve sound proofing of a room and can create that edge of professionalism in your office. Suspended Ceilings In The Business Industry

Many businesses in the commercial industry nowadays as well as schools and hospitals etc as well are all opting

to get the new craze of ceilings in, the new ceilings that they are all going towards are suspended ceilings. ceiling-lights Businesses believe that these ceilings will keep them going strongly. I believe that they are correct and I feel that suspended ceilings offer so much especially to a business that they can have them installed quickly and cheaply as well as the ceilings offering you the benefits of concealing pipe works and such.

There are so many reasons why businesses are moving to suspended ceilings, mainly because they are able to carry out maintenance easily and efficiently in the ceiling void above and also because they conceal the maintenance above the ceiling so that nobody needs to see when work is being carried out. Another reason why businesses could be using more suspended ceilings is because they may need to cover up anything that is showing out on the existing ceiling. As suspended ceilings are suspended from the existing ceiling there may be things such as pipes and wiring that needs to be concealed from the watchful eye of the public.

Also if these things are not concealed they may have problems with health and safety along with other rules that certain companies have to follow. For example hospitals have strict health and safety requirements for near on everything which they have to follow otherwise it could end being bad news for them including being closed down. Suspended ceilings in these kind of places can mean that they keep their license and stay open, you can get tiles inserted into your suspended ceilings and also ventilation that keeps your tiles clean from things such as dust. There are also other panels that are used for clean rooms which will certainly bring their ceilings up to scratch with health and safety.

ceilings suppliers

Another thing that they have to bear in mind is the fact that suspended ceilings with panels that are made up of mineral fibre can be toxic so therefore places such as hospitals need to make sure that they do not have tile panels that do this. If the ceiling void is being used for ventilation ducts etc then any wiring that may also be concealed by the suspended ceilings needs to have special low-toxicity and low smoke insulation installed around the wires. This must be installed for your own safety if you are running suspended ceilings like this as in the case of a fire the wires would normally let of toxic fumes as well as letting the fire spread. With this insulation installed around the wires it will make sure that the fire doesn’t spread and if the fire touches the insulation then it will absorb the fire or go out therefore avoiding a potentially lethal hazard.

If you are thinking about getting suspended ceilings installed into your business or anywhere then I would recommend doing so as long as you check every piece of health and safety as you do not really want to get in trouble because you haven’t got about it in the correct way. Suspended Ceilings - Aspects That You Need To Consider

There are many different reasons why you may be thinking about getting a suspended ceiling installed into your home,

office, school or any kind of building really that already has an existing ceiling which you believe is not up to scratch. ceiling-lights A couple of them reasons include, you may want sound and heat insulation added to a room, you may want to cover up horrible looking pipes in the existing ceiling or you may just want to make your ceiling look clean and decent. I would definitely say that going for suspended ceilings for any of these reasons and more is a very good decision.

There are so many different systems that your suspended ceilings could be of and I would have to say that the system that you go for in the end is probably going to be decided on how your building is laid out. You may be installing suspended ceilings into a small house or a massive office, either way there are different options for each.

When installing suspended ceilings you are going to need to think about a lot of things before you can complete the installation process, as there are so many different aspects that you may not of even thought about. Some of the different aspects that you need to think about include: acoustic insulation, heat insulation, materials, flowing design, fire issues and maintenance just to name a few. If you are installing suspended ceilings into certain buildings like an office or a school for example you are going to need to check up on the health and safety regulations and make sure that the suspended ceilings system that you decide on is acceptable. There are quite a lot of different health and safety regulations to follow when looking for ceilings depending on the location and type of building. For example there are certain health and safety requirements that have to be followed if you are installing suspended ceilings into hospitals, labs and buildings where food is prepared for the food industry. Stringent hygiene and sterile standards must be followed in these types of buildings. So always check if your building falls under any health and safety regulations or if you are unsure always consult your supplier.

Another thing that you will want to think about before you start ordering suspended ceilings is how much sound you want in the room. I mean you are probably in someway or another going to want to block sounds from coming into the room and disturbing you. There are many different tile systems that offer different sorts or sound attenuation and absorption that will suit your needs in any way, just when choosing the suspended ceilings consult your manufacturer for the most appropriate sound system. Another aspect to suspended ceilings is that you need to know how fire resistant they are and how much they can withstand. AMF ceilings strive to make their tiles fully coordinated with fire regulations and they also control the fire flow if one does break out, reducing the risk of the fire spreading much more. suspended ceiling supplier

These are things that you should always check with your manufacturer or supplier before you buy as purchasing suspended ceilings that do not comply with rules and regulations that are set out for you will cause headaches. Why Should You Install Suspended Ceiling Suppliers

Suspended Ceilings - Why Should You Install Them Is your existing ceiling looking damaged and cluttered with pipe works and wires?

Well why don’t you think about getting suspended ceilings installed? What are suspended ceilings? Well if this is what you are saying then read on to find out. ceiling-lights Suspended ceilings are like an extension to your existing ceiling, they are built up of a grid made of metal which is suspended from the existing ceiling by a set of wires. Once the grid is set up, tile panels are placed into metal channels in the grid, they all fit into place and make the ceiling solid and in place. This is what suspended ceilings are made up of, you will usually see ceilings like this placed in big offices or buildings as such to hide all their air ducts and wiring etc.

to buy ceiling

There are plenty of reasons why you should choose to install suspended ceilings over other types, read on to find out what these are. Suspended ceilings are typically installed to cover up air ducts, piping, wires and any other objects that are cluttering up the ceiling areas. Other reasons for installing suspended ceilings include sound absorption, insulation and levelling.

Suspended ceilings have come a long way since they first started being used and now a main reason why they are installed is for sound absorption, there are a lot of different tiles that you can put into the grid that are brilliant for sound control. If the room is going to be loud and you do not want the sound travelling far then these sorts of tiles will suck all the sound in making your room practically sound proof.

Also you may find that you want to add some insulation to your ceiling as there is now a ceiling void above you, there are a few things that you can use in you suspended ceilings to offer more insulation including foam but there are also special tiles that you can buy which will provide all the insulation you need. The next reason for installing suspended ceilings is to help with levelling; if you have an uneven ceiling existing at the moment then you can add a suspended ceiling which can be easily changed so that the ceiling is level.

All you need to do is get the grid adjusted on installation to the correct height you want. Suspended ceilings are great in this way that they can be adjusted to practically any height. Once you have your suspended ceilings installed you don’t have to be stuck with a completely closed ceiling of white panels, oh no, you can do so much with the panels and add in what you like, read on for a few examples. You could add in fluorescent light panels that will give you light, these come in so many different varieties you will have problems deciding which ones you want, you don’t have to install the fluorescent lights only, you can add other methods of light as long as they are securely attached to the grid. Next suspended ceilings can be changed from just white; you can get panels with all sorts of designs, colours and shapes on that will brighten up your room. If you are going to paint your tiles then you should make sure that you use latex paint to get a professional and decent finish. Symetra Adagio Rilievo panels are panels that have perforated finely sanded surfaces which will give you a nice smooth, elegant finish, these kinds of panels also offer added sound absorption as an added bonus.

These tiles have a plain border round the edge which gives the suspended ceilings a very nice look. The next one I am going to tell you about is the AMF Kombimetall panel which is a very, very high quality panel and offers the highest standard of sound absorption and fire protection. This panel type is a single unit and is classed as a free span corridor system which is usually installed into a corridor because of the panels that are used are planks. This panel fits in nicely with a lot of suspended ceilings. There is no need for extra insulation with these tiles and you can also add some extras on to this type of panel including sprinkler fixture and lights. There are also a lot of designer panels that you are able to get your hands on for suspended ceilings such as the AMF THERMATEX Sky.dot panels, these are mineral panels that are quite large and have different sized random holes going through making a striking finish which will always look good.

There are panels also that have small looking 3D grids inside of them so that it blends in with the existing grid that it is sitting on giving a really good geometric design which can be enjoyed by everyone and you will know your suspended ceilings are safe because they meet the highest of health and safest regulations. There are many, many more to available out there for suspended ceilings all you need to do is look around and you will find them, there really are so many to choose from.
